KENNETH MAIN SPS Foundation Distinguished Alumni 2024
Kenneth graduated from Sutherland in 1953. He was an athlete and excelled at football.
Ken is a successful, long-time businessman. He initially joined his father in the T.R. Main Trucking business. Ken retained T.R. Main Trucking until his retirement in 2003.
Ken served the Sutherland community through many leadership roles. He served on the Sutherland Village Board for 23-years. As a board member, Ken worked to bring new law enforcement to town, the development of the City Hall, and a new library. Additionally, a new water storage tank was erected and a new water line installed. During his time on the Village Board, the development of Planning and Zoning was also initiated in Sutherland. Ken was a long-time member and participant of the Sutherland Chamber of Commerce. He served on golf boards and helped develop the Sutherland OregonTrail Golf Course. Along with others, Ken was instrumental in building the Sutherland ballpark and the Sutherland swimming pool.
Ken has a history of leadership, active participation, volunteerism and advocacy for Sutherland that supports community growth and progress. Ken and wife Jacky have three children Mike, Tom, and Tammi. In 2023 Ken and Jacky were named the Sutherland Grand Marshals for the 4th of July parade.
