Dr. LISA BOGGS SPS Foundation Distinguished Alumni 2018
Lisa was a 1985 Sutherland graduate. She’s been extremely successful in the education field, despite having a lifelong hearing disability. She gives huge credit to her service dog, Duncan, who has been by her side for a number of years.
Her post-secondary education started at Chadron State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989 and a Masters Degree in 1992. Lisa attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming obtaining her Doctor of Philosophy in 2003. She’s an Associate Professor in Biology at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she instructs students in General Botany, Principles of Biology, Biological orientation, Senior Seminar and Freshman Orientation.
Lisa’s awards include: Who’s Who Among America’s College Teachers, SWOSU Outstanding Biology Professor, Faculty Member of the Year, & Biology Department Professor of the Year and International Hearing Guide Dog. Lisa participates in numerous Professional Affiliations, Department and University Boards and Committees, and is involved with her community as speaker, judge, and volunteer.
