His childhood consisted of humble beginnings and he realized education would be the key for him to find success. Through his strong work ethic in the classroom and athletics, he received a basketball scholarship-helping fund his post-secondary education.
Myron attended North Platte Junior College graduating in 1973. He then enrolled at Kansas State University completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and Industry. Graduate school was the next step, receiving a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 1979. Dr. McCune then returned to Sutherland to serve the area as a veterinarian. In 2006, he became the owner of his family’s homestead farm, McCune Land and Cattle.
Community service: School Board President, Teammates Board, Youth Board & Coach, Planning Commission, 4-H Leader. Dr. McCune has membership in numerous professional associations and is a financial supporter of several local philanthropic organizations.
