Linda Tacey SPS Foundation Distinguished Alumni 2020
Linda (Humphrey), is part of 4 generations of her family graduating from Sutherland. Grandparents Harold (1919), (Edith 1921), dad Charles (1942), Linda (1973), and her kids Marlana (1994), & David (2000). Linda took advantage of extra-curricular activities participating in; Choir, Band, Speech, One Act, Pep Club, Pep Band, Home Economics and Girls State Representative. She received several music and business awards. Linda's post-secondary education was at Mid Plains Community College.
Linda experienced a variety of occupations through her career. She drove an 18- wheeler cross country, secretary at Thomas Agency, and was employed by NPPD at Gerald Gentleman Power Station. She took a 10-year leave from her career to raise her children & provide day care. She then returned to NPPD GGS and completed 23-years, finishing as a Material Control Data Specialist.
Much of Linda's lifetime has been dedicated to Sutherland Community Service. Her list of volunteering includes; Sutherland Cemetery District, Methodist Church teaching and organist (50-years), Bible School teacher, UMW Treasurer, Tree Board, Growth Committee, Historical Society History Center, 4-H, and Cub & Boy Scout leader.
Linda and her husband (Gene) have also been very instrumental with the Lions Club directing several activities; July 4th Parade, Rodeo concession stand, & Mobile Screening Unit. Linda and Gene were 4th of July Parade Grand Marshals.
